Poem from the rooftops of Iran (video)

June 20, 2009

This entry for “Gifts of expression” is a powerful video of a young woman reflecting on the state of affairs in Iran, while chants of “Allah-o Akbar” ( God is Great) ring through the darkness of night.

This week we have seen something remarkable take place in Iran, and in the hearts and minds of many around the globe.  In spite of a harsh crack down on all forms of communication, Iranians have made their voices heard to the world-through tweets, blogs, videos, signs, chants of solidarity, and silent protest. This is a day spent on edge, as we wait and watch what becomes of today’s scheduled protest and the outcome of this movement.

The events in Iran are something i think everyone should be following.  For the peaceful protesters courage while demonstrating for fairness in the face of violence- i believe their stories deserve to be heard.

My heart aches for those in Iran,  i pray for their safety and hope that out of this will come a brighter day, a freer day for all.
